| Fury sat behind the large desk that was allow him in the Garden by his sister. He looked out at the empty seats that up until five minutes ago wear filled with SeeD students. He chuckled to himself, thinking of how much of a hard-ass he must appear to each an every one of them. As he looked out the window by his seat, his mind wandered to many things. He thought of his time in the PSI-COM Special Forces Division and all he did there. He thought of how much it had taken him away from his family for so long that he didn't hardly get to see Alivia for her first two years. Then, her and her mother being taken away from him by the government he had sworn to protect. He thought of the revenge path that sent him down and how dark his life turned at that time. He was basically throwing himself at the enemy, trying to be killed. He just couldn't though. Then the war ended, and he was still looking for revenge.
That's when he found Serenity. She had been no older than Alivia at the time, barely alive ad living off the streets. A smile cracked across his face as he remembered the look on the face of the merchant who was trying to cut off her hand when he had shown up. He took her under her wing and by the time he was to depart from Spira, she had wanted to come with him. Much to the reluctance of their tour guide, Emblem of Besaid, He had taken her with him anyway. He took her back to Pulse to live with him and the others. But still he had looked for revenge. He found it on Cocoon. His teeth clenched when he remembered the raw rage that was pouring through him then. At that time he had just figured out that he was a Leonhart and that he had some special powers. He had no idea how far they went. He basically tore that lab apart looking for her. When he did, it was like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. No longer did he want revenge, but he wanted to protect them. They were the center to his universe now. Every mission that tears him away from them jabs at his heart. Every time he leaves them behind with someone else makes him not even want to go.
He stood up and walked over to the window and opened it up. He looked out at the surrounding landscape and thought: Jesse... What am I doing?.... What am I supposed to do here? I'm lost. A small breeze blew in from the outside smelling of Tulips. Tulips... They always were your favorite... He chuckled to himself, know knowing what he had to do, and returned to his desk. He got out a few sheets of paper and began to write... _________________ "I take the lives of a few to protect the lives of many. I commit acts of war to preserve the greater peace. | Dear Alivia,
I'm writing to you now so that you'll have something to remember me by in case the worst should ever happen. I'll be writing to you as much as I can from now on and leave them with Jayda for safe keeping. I want you to know that all that I do is for you. I know it seems like I don't have time for you and your sister anymore, and it hurts me that it is that way, but it is for the best. For every bad guy I take off the street, that is another day you can continue in safety. It is a bitter sweet feeling that leaves me raw.
But that doesn't matter.
What matters is you. I still remember the first time I laid eyes on you. I was still on my campaign on Pulse when you were born. I had received the news and immediately sent in for a holo-transmission. Your mom told me she was shocked when the men showed up at our house to bring in the new equipment. It took a whole month before they had all the gizmos up and running and I got to see your face. When I saw your pudgy little face, though, it just lit up my world. You were just this little thing that had so much spunk. I can see you trying to grab the holo-gram of me as if I had been really there as if it were yesterday. You kept reaching and reaching, but you just couldn't grab me...
That was the happiest day of my life. It was all because of you. You were the driving force in my life and you still are.
