AirShip Template:NAME: The Crescent Moon
Owner & Captain:Me, Lady Keiko Usagi
First Mate: Mr. Bully Hayes, a more forthright man I have never known.
Other Crewman: Roland Heimdall, Master Engineer; 10 other trusted souls who would not desert or betray me like my last crew.
Effect: Engine Plant:The Crescent Moon is a one of a kind when it comes to the engine room. With the aid of my new friend Roland Heimdall the entire plant now runs on an Electromagnetic/ION/Plasma charged thrust system when high in the sky. The engines are part of a sophisticated Electromagnetic configuration Roland dreamed up and implemented and ties into a set of ‘lifters’ he calls which aid in lifting the Crescent Moon free from the bonds of the terrestrial. These lifters create what he calls an ‘ION wind’ that suppresses gravity thus making it significantly easier on the Plasma thrust system. The output from the plant is so much Roland has tied into all weapons and systems of the ship. We can sustain enough power to keep a small city glowing in the dark if need by the engineer tells me. The Crescent Moon can make speed in the water or in the sky and out run the latest technical marvels. It may even be able to go forward in time, but we have not proven that yet.
It’s all very technical as you can see.
The HullAgain Roland came through for me. The hull is comprised of a super dense alloy he created, a new ‘metal’ that can withstand internal pressures that other metals cannot. The uniqueness is not limited to its strength, but also to the fact it floats like a piece of wood. This allows the Crescent to sail the high seas wherever it needs or fly high through the sky. The metal is hard enough to withstand a full broad side from cannon and explosive rounds like missiles (-25% damage effect to the Crescent Moon) but only for one pass, after that it would probably shatter like kindling.
The AIThe Crescent is primarily controlled by the same AI that Henzo Miharu built for the Red Dragon, my mount. Of course there were modifications and upgrades to make the new AI work with the Crescent, but a fabulous man Aleister knew was able to aid me in such a task. The AI maintains the life support, navigation, and other such necessities. It keeps Roland’s engines under a watchful eye and warns him of any changes that might cause harm or performance problems. It is also obeys voice commands like the Red Dragon and only I know the code to override it. If the situation arises where I have to keep a mutiny at bay again with a command I can lock all the doors of the ship thus confining the damnable dogs wherever they are.
Description: My Crescent Moon is a standard Frigate class sailing vessel with four decks including the main running the full length of the ship. There are three square rigged masts, the main and mizzen and aft, which can be full rigged during flight or sailing. The aft section where the Quarterdeck is maintains the command center and observation deck. There are four decks below, one for the berths for the crew and my state room. The next deck below is used for storage and mess. The next two below are used for Roland’s engine plant and each one is broken into several compartments by the ribs if the ship.
Behind the aft by the rudder are the exhaust ports for Roland’s ION engines and running on the underside by the keel, from fore to aft, are the lifter pads that create the ION Wind. The hull is painted a dark blue from the keel to the main deck. The Quarterdeck is Red with accents and the deck is glistening teakwood.
The main deck has the weapons and also the anchor.
Number Of Weapons: All the weapons are controlled by the AI, but can be controlled manually from Roland’s control center in the Engine room or the weapon itself by the crew as a backup.
Six Main Energy Cannons These unique weapons line the Port and Starboard side of the Crescent Moon, two per side, and two aft. They are double barreled dealers of destruction using a stream of charged ION energy which form a particle beam weapon. Roland constructed each and tied them into the energy plant to power them so there is no need to pack them with propellant. He used an old design, as Roland states, where the ION energy from the plant can be supercharged in the cannon and thus create a particle beam. Two effects can happen when a ship is hit with the beam depending on what the AI chooses.
- a. The beam strikes with the full force of kinetic energy from charged IONs and delivers the damage of a Tier 2 Thundara Lightning attack. After firing the beam the cannon must be cooled and then re-charged again thus it takes two rounds to fire another broadside
- b. The IONS can be used to create an EMP pulse effect where the beam hits, a ten foot AoE. Any electrical object in said AoE would be unusable for five rounds. This effect also passes through the hull to the internal electronics. After firing the EMP round the cannon must be cooled then re-charged taking three rounds to fire an EMP pulse..
Four Missile turrets There are two turrets on the Port and Starboard side, both concealed by laying flat on the deck. It takes the AI one round to have them activated and setup. After that the missiles can be fired. The missile is four feet long and is fired from the launcher via a pulse so as not to damage the launcher. The engine kicks in after twenty feet after the fins pop open. The missiles are homing and lock in via the radar system of the ship and the AI.
Each one is explosive tipped with enough charge to deliver Tier 2 Fira damage upon impact. Each launcher has four missiles; one fired per round, and can be reloaded by the crew taking two rounds to do.
History: The Crescent Moon was nothing more than a rotting husk of what some called a sailing ship sitting next to the doc. It had seen its better days pass by quiet a time before I saw her. The Moon had been part of a small fleet captained by a man who knew nothing of sailing I had been told. She was a present from my Nafeesa and first mate Bully, and at first I did not see the potential in her that they did. Yet with the help of Roland, who had followed Nafeesa out of his bunker in the desert to head engineering in my crew, the Crescent was literally and figuratively as it were raised from the dead.
It took a long time in dry dock, considerable aid from many, and more than a few favors called. I care not to consider them as it pains me to think of them being gone. The ship was overhauled from keel to top of the mast, from bow to stern. It was transformed into the beauty it is today.
